The Better You Network

Why we invested in Mine’d

Emotions have the most powerful impact on our quality of life. Yet, learning how to navigate them is something we are never taught.

As we enter 2022 amidst the ongoing pandemic and still facing the greatest mental health crisis in history, it is more important than ever for people to have access to help and pathways for emotional wellness. Against this backdrop, we are very excited to share our investment in Mine’d, an emotional wellness brand that connects experts (therapists, coaches) with consumers through a mix of high-quality, on-demand and live content.

The Better You Network

At Listen, we began investing in mental health in 2012 with an early bet on Calm. The idea that people should exercise their mind as much as their body resonated with us. Calm built a brand to help lead this movement and while meditation and mindfulness have now become mainstream, we are still in the early days. Over the past several years, we have seen many companies and business models focused on mental illness and wellness. Many brands are re-inventing the therapy model making it digitally more accessible for people with acute needs. But, professional therapy is expensive, making it unattainable for many people that are simply looking to start on a better journey.

Simply learning about and understanding our emotions has become a key thesis for us at Listen. We backed Slumberkins, a brand leading the charge on social emotional learning for children. But what about adults going through trying times or emotional events? Where can they turn? The masses need a place to go when they start their search for help and Mine’d is building the destination and programming to help guide you on the right path. A brand, with a network of experts and community, to meet you where you are.

The Better You Network

When we met founders Aaron Albert and Mark Groves we were immediately taken by the passion they had for this platform to exist and the obsession for helping others. Aaron is the consumer, he found Mark when he was looking for help while navigating a tough breakup. And Mark is an emotional wellness expert who has built a personal brand helping others navigate trying times. We’ve watched closely as they have built the platform, recruited top tier expert talent (like Dr. Solomon), inspired the development of content, and built a super engaged community.

We are thrilled to partner with them and believe Mine’d is well positioned to become the go-to resource for people to proactively take care of their emotional wellness and build communities of support around common mental health goals. By building the “Better You” network for experts to create content, manage their communities, and scale their impact, Mine’d is one of the most promising and exciting models we have seen in this category.
